This is because cane syrup is more mild than molasses.
Sorghum Syrup
you’ve got the option to use a 1:1 ratio when substitutingsorghum syrupfor molasses.
Black treacle is actually the closest substitute to molasses.

It can be used at a 1:1 ratio, though it does have a slightly stronger flavor.
If you prefer less intensity, it’s possible for you to substitute slightly less.
Simply add in a smaller amount of honey if you prefer a less sweet result.
However, it is also sweeter than molasses and has a more neutral taste.
To add more flavor to your recipe, mix half dark corn syrup, half honey.
Maple Syrup
Substitutemaple syrupfor molasses in a 3/4 to 1 cup ratio.
This is because not only is maple syrup sweeter, but it’s also thinner than molasses.
