So far, it’s not going as well as hoped.

The company has been testing out AI drive-thru ordering at locations near its headquarters in Ohio.
A Wendy’s customer tore the new system to shredson a subreddit.
The customer was frequently cut off mid-sentence and had to repeat everything three times.
And forget telling the bot you want “no pickle” on your sandwich.
Another Wendy’s customer agreed, saying the bot wouldn’t allow them to order some Baconator menu items.
Yet another said their stutter makes pretty much all AI “literally unusable” for them.
A few did chime in to support the new technology and say ordering went smoothly.
In theory, the AI is supposed to improve over time.
“We have a lot of confidence,” CEO Kirk Tanner said in a recent earnings call.
“One thing I love about it, it continues to get better.”
But there’s a big, unanswered question a subredditor had: Will the drive-thru AI understand Southern accents?
Looks like we’re going to find out.
