Cool down with this simple frozen dessert made with fresh watermelon.
(You just might need to adjust the sugar to taste.)
Enjoy the granitas as is, or serve them with a dollop of whipped cream on top.

Adults can also add a splash of prosecco, tequila, or rum to the serving glass.
Process until smooth, 1 minute.
Pour mixture into a 13- x 9-inch baking pan.
Freeze for 1 hour.
Remove pan from freezer (sides of mixture should be frozen, but center will not be set).
Using a fork, lightly scrape sides of granita.
Freeze for 1 hour.
Repeat process every hour until granita is fully frozen and flaky, about 3 hours total.
Divide granita evenly into 4 glasses.
Garnish with lime zest twists, lime slices, and watermelon cubes; serve immediately.
Peach Granita
In Step 1, substitute 3 cups peeled and sliced fresh peaches for watermelon.
Proceed with recipe as directed.
In Step 4, garnish with lime zest twists, lime slices, and peach slices.
SERVES 4
Blackberry Granita
Skip Step 1.
Then process 3 cups fresh blackberries and 1 cup water in a food processor until smooth.
Pour mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a large bowl.
Stir in 1/2 cup sugar, 1 Tbsp.
lime zest, 3 Tbsp.
lime juice, and 1/4 tsp.
Proceed with Steps 2 and 3 as directed.
In Step 4, garnish with lime zest twists, lime slices, and fresh blackberries.
