Regardless of the reason it was created, mock apple pie is a surprisingly comforting treat.

Ingredients

1(14.1 oz.)pkg.

Southern Living Mock Apple pie sliced and ready to serve with ice cream

Set pie crusts out at room temperature according to package directions.

Bring to a gentle boil and cook 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Prepare pie filling:

Coarsely break crackers and place them in the crust.

Pour sugar syrup over crackers.

Top with butter and cinnamon.

Bake pie:

Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until the top crust is golden brown.
