The beloved New Orleans photographer passed away on January 26.

Most people dont like having their picture taken.

But ifNew Orleansphotographer Pableaux Johnson pointed his camera at someone, they tended to light right up.

He turned what is typically an awkward encounter into a moment of connection.

I was hardly alone.

Aside from his incredible photographs, he leaves a legacy of fellowship and food.

He continued: Its a great chance to learn from people you know or people you dont.

Ive made a lot of good friends who were friends of friends either recommendations or they came as guests.

Like, Hey, I got a friend coming in from out of town.

And theres usually room.

Theres very few times when theres not.

The rule is: Make more rice.

Make family eat last.

Pableaux had a gift for creating community.
