New for 2025, the tomato pie is a must-try snack while at August National.
However, in true Augusta National fashion, this was not a joking matter.
As a born-and-raised Southerner, I was excited to try the Masters take on a Southern classic recipe.

Ive eaten plenty of tomato pies in my day.
I wasnt at all deterred by this change, because it made a lot of sense for the circumstances.
So, the half-moon filled pastry was perfectly fine for me!
The pies come in individual boxes that remind me of the microwavable pizza pockets of my childhood.
But the true test of a tomato pie is always the filling.
To give it a fair test, I broke the pie in half to examine its contents.
I found sizable cherry tomato pieces mixed into a cheesy tomato sauce of sorts.
There were specks of fresh herbs like basil, rosemary, and thyme.
By looks alone, it was impressive.
How Does It Taste?
But onto the taste: one bite and I was hooked.
It was bursting with a rich, savory, cheesiness that almost felt like the pimiento cheese on steroids.
Either way, I loved it.
If youre lucky enough to attend the Masters this year, dont sleep on the tomato pie.
Its a Southern tradition, like the tournament itself, thats unlike any other.
