Located in the Intracoastal Waterway in Palm Beach County, Florida, Peanut Island is a pint-sized paradise.
Decades later, there was a plan to use the island as a terminal for shipping peanut oil.
The plan never panned out, but the name stuck.

That, combined with the variety of marine life surrounding the island, makes it aprime spot for snorkelers.
Its shallow lagoon is the best spot for snorkeling.

you could easily find several types of parrot fish, angel fish, coral, and crabs.
Sea turtles and manatees have also been spotted around the island.
The water is warm year-round and fantastic for swimming.

An umbrella or sunshade is helpful to have for the beach because there isnt much natural shade.
Or, take a stroll.
Its an easy, mostly flat walk and offers plenty of photo opportunities.

Note that alcohol and balloons are not allowed on the island.
(Stays are limited to a maximum of three nights.)
There are 17 reserved tent sites that must be booked in advance.

The campground also has restrooms with hot indoor showers, a picnic pavilion, and a large fire ring.

Look for signs for Peanut Island/Overflow Parking.
Book tickets in advance because they can sell out.
Dogs can travel for free with their owners, and you canbring coolers,chairs, and umbrellas.
