Founded as the capital of the Virginia colony in 1699, colonial history has been painstakingly preserved here.
The first inaugural event was held in 1936 in support of the states fruit growers.
It took a 5-year pause during World War II but resumed after the wars end.

Now the festival is a week-long event with a host of family-friendly events taking place in downtown Buckhannon.
