The warming spices are perfect for the cooler months when a hint of spice is most appreciated.
A buttery shortbread base creates a tender but sturdy layer to top with a luscious, pecan-studded filling.
Or just enjoy them right out of the pan!
Bring to room temperature before serving.
Spray a 13- x 9-inch baking pan with baking spray with flour.
Line bottom and sides of pan with parchment paper, leaving a 2- to 3-inch overhang on 2 sides.
Pulse until coarse crumbs form, 6 to 7 times.
Firmly press mixture into bottom of prepared pan.
Bake the Crust:
Bake in preheated oven until light golden brown, about 20 minutes.
(Crust will have cracks.)
Pour over warm Crust.
Bake the Bars:
Bake at 350F until Filling is set, 25 to 30 minutes.
Cool completely in pan, about 1 hour.
Slice into 32 bars.
Pecan pie bars should not be overly gooey in the center.
If they are, they may be underbaked.
The flavor and baking time may vary depending on the jot down of sweetener used.
