We thought, Should we just go for it?
Even before officially deciding to embark on constructing a new house, the couple knew whose help theyd enlist.
In looking toward the past, I didnt have to look far.

I wanted to honor our roots here and the architectural history of the Texas Hill Country.
The project was chronicled on a streaming series calledHome to Homesteadon The Design online grid.
Its a great big new adventure for all of us.

These provide a respite from constant maintenance and replanting.
The kitchens casual U-shapedbreakfast alcovehas nostalgic groove paneling and cushioned built-in seating.
My family loves hanging out in this cozy little spot, says Finn.

A bistro table by Lulu and Georgia and woven leather chairs complete the set.
A sprawling 1800s French pharmacy cabinet at the entrance sits opposite an old-fashioned cast-iron sink.
Early German settlers would have used Texas limestone inside and out, she says.

She decided against trendy indoor/outdoor living design elements, such as huge sliding doors.
Those people are clearly not from Texas, she jokes.
Instead, she let in natural light via large windows and French doors throughout.

Kids are hard on houses.
If they scratch it up, thatll just add to the charm, she notes.
The dining room features antique chairs purchased at a citywide garage sale in Llano, Texas.

Have Fun with Guest Rooms
Finn went all out with patterns and textures in the bedrooms.
Mixing neutral patterns on the walls, upholstery, and linens delivers dimension without being too loud.
Draperies by Everhem are charmingly cinched by oversize pink tassels sourced from Round Top.
