Melt 4 tablespoons of the butter in a large skillet over medium.
Add onion and celery; cook, stirring occasionally, until softened, about 8 minutes.

Transfer onion mixture to a large bowl.
Stir in chicken, cream of chicken soup, and sour cream until well combined.
Transfer mixture to an 11- x 7-inch baking dish and spread into an even layer.

Stir in crushed crackers and celery salt until evenly moistened.
Sprinkle cracker mixture evenly over chicken mixture in baking dish.
