(The bake time is about 25 to 30 minutes.)

The filling should be fully set at the edges, but may still jiggle a bit at the center.

It’s important you let the bars cool completely before you slice them.

The sugar filling will be very runny and thin until it has a chance to cool and set.

So resist the temptation to slice early.

Lightly grease a 13- x 9-inch baking dish with cooking spray.

Make crust:

Sift together 2 cups flour and 2/3 cup powdered sugar.

Cut in 3/4 cup softened butter using a pastry blender or fork just until mixture resembles coarse meal.

Bake crust:

Bake at 350F for 20 minutes or until edges are lightly browned.

Add filling to crust:

Pour hot filling into prepared crust.

Cool completely before cutting into 2-inch squares.
