This recipe is a tribute to my family’s DIY oyster dressingthe one that originally got me hooked.

While those ingredients vary within reason, Oyster Pie and Oyster Dressing have some crucially different elements.
Ingredients
8Tbsp.
Lightly grease 8 x 10-inch (or 2 qt.)

Stir in 1 teaspoon of the salt, poultry seasoning and Old Bay.
Stir to combine and coat vegetables evenly.
Add 1 1/4 cups of the broth and cook, lifting any browned bits from the pan.

Add bread and cornbread to the broth mixture, stirring to combine and let bread soak up liquid.
If some bread pieces are still dry, add remaining 1/4 cup of broth.
Mix dressing:
Add oyster mixture and egg to the bread mixture and gently stir to combine.

Add dressing to baking pan:
Transfer to baking dish.
Cut remaining 1/4 cup of butter into cubes and sprinkle overtop.
Bake dressing:
Bake until browned and set, about 40 minutes.

Garnish with parsley, and serve warm with lemon wedges and hot sauce.
