This is the only one we’d buy again.
Each cider was poured into cups and labeled with a number to keep the taste test anonymous.
After trying all of the ciders, editors were instructed to select their overall favorite.

We tallied up all of the results to determine the winner.
The Contenders
We visited the grocery departments of six conventional stores.
But even among the crowd, there was one very clear winner that was quintessentially spiced and cidery.

This cider would suit as a base with mulling spicesand perhaps more sweetenersmixed in.
But most editors felt it lacked the spice.
What it didn’t have in spice it made up for in freshness and tartness.

One editor suggested that it would be a good option for mixing with cocktails.
Its flavors were apple-forward, and several editors said it tasted a lot like apple juice.
“This is lovely,” said one editor, and most editors agreed.
“Would be good with spices simmered in,” said another editor.
We’d definitely recommend simmering this one in the slow cooker with some extra spices.
Costco | Zeigler’s Apple Cider
This cider was the darkest in color.
Walmart’s Hay’s Apple Cider followed with the second most first-place votes.
