The west coast of Florida prepares to face a second major hurricane in less than two weeks.

However, Milton is headed for a much more densely populated area and storm surge is a major concern.

If Milton stays on its designated path, it will be catastrophic for our area.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis first issued emergency orders on Saturday but as of Monday these orders have expanded.

Fifty-one counties in Florida have now been declared a State of Emergency.

The state of Florida has marshaled unprecedented resources to help with debris removal.

The evacuation also includes residents in any zone living in mobile and manufactured homes.

Lee County: For Zones A and B. Hurricane RISK Shelters have been opened at the following locations.

Bronson Elementary for Special Needs.

Bronson Middle High School, General Population / Pet Friendly.

Pasco County: For Zone C in Pasco County as Hurricane Milton approaches Florida.

Life-threatening storm surge and hurricane force winds are expected to impact Pasco County later this week.

Pinellas County: Everyone in Zone A, B and C, and all mobile homes.

Earlier the County announced evacuations for special needs residents and residential health care facilities in these zones.

Sarasota County: Zones A and B including mobile homes, manufactured homes, and houseboats.

Officials are urging people in those evacuation zones to take their pets and move quickly to higher ground now.
