But to keep their operation going they faced a major challenge.
Like everyone else in town, they needed water.

The infrastructure of the reservoir and the water system that feeds downtown is decimated.
And not only is it decimated, the roads that access it are decimated.
He got us wired up to a tank so we could just start cooking.

This is probably the poorest water situation Ive ever seen.
The scope is intensely large.
The work is grueling, but he says its also gratifying to see the results.

When you first encounter people, theyre worn out and theyve experienced horrible trauma, he says.
And it just grows and it passes a wave of hope from one person to the next.
Ive gotten cheers and rounds of applause every time I told them their water was running, Waldron says.
I just wish I could have seen this place before the storm because its gorgeous.
