Wilsons coach, Joe Lee, confirmed that the young phenom received the news on Sunday.
“The call came directly to me from USA Track & Field,” Lee toldUSA Today.
“I called Quincy afterwards with the good news.”
Wilson toldESPNthat he was ecstatic when he received the call.
“I started running around the house, he said.
It was just a moment for me because everybody dreams aboutgoing to the Olympicsas a young kid.”
It was the icing on an incredible week in Oregon for Wilson.
He ran under 45 seconds in three separate 400-meter heats at the trials.
“I’ve never been this happy a day in my life when it came to track.
I’ve been working for this moment,” Wilson told ESPN.
The Olympic team will formally be announced on July 8.
