“There was nothing better in that moment than seeing that dog come out of the pile of debris.

Tornadoes had touched down there and caused a lot of damage.

As soon as we got there it was really dark.

But you could tell there was a lot of damage.

When the sun came up, we were just blown away.

We couldn’t even see it when it was dark because those houses were just blown away.

But then, they heard a noise.

Maybe its coming from the community behind where these houses are right now.

Its a faint barking in the distance.

Hes a dog in the neighborhood thats been missing for 24 hours.

So all three of us were on top of this pile of debris, we were climbing it.

My photographer kept telling me watch out, theres nails everywhere.

She couldnt believe there could be a dog under everything, alive.

We were maybe two minutes out from the live shot while we were climbing on this rubble.

The producers were probably wondering where the heck we were.

We werent standing in front of the camera.

And it was when we were standing in front of the camera that Michael came out with the dog.

This hurricane caused so much of it.

And then you have this moment where Even if its just for a moment, its a good moment.

And thankfully, she received a clean bill of health.

But by this point they have confirmed that sadly, two people in the home did not survive.

So this sweet pooch then became a temporary member of the WFOR news team.

She snuggled with Rynor as the University of Florida graduate wrote her script for her next report.

It wasnt long before the video of the rescue went viral.

One of the many people to see it?

The dog belonged to him and his girlfriend.

He also told Rynor that the dogs name is actually Lulu and shes 14-years-old.

He was slightly injured but expected to be okay.

Rynor said of speaking with the family of the late Alejandro Alonso, They were obviously heartbroken.

And thats when the family told us, you know were also missing her Rottweiler sibling named Sheba.

We dont think she made it out alive but were still holding out hope.

We reunited Lulu with the Rottweiler sibling and the family.

And the grandson was literally in tears when he saw Lulu.

And he had a special moment where he was like Im going to spoil them rotten.

Im just gonna get them the biggest bed in the world.

Rynor confirmed for us that yes, Sheba was also checked out by a veterinarian and also deemed healthy.

Thats another thing thats special about this story because the Rottweiler didnt make a noise.

Like if you had asked me if there was another dog under there I would have said no.

And if there is, its probably not alive.

But I truly believe that this little teeny dog found a way to make it to where Sheba was.

And we had been there for hours.

And not once did Sheba bark.

So I think Lulu was speaking on behalf of the two of them.

Im such an animal lover, I really am…

So I grew up with that instilled in me.

That dogs are just pure love.

And there was nothing better in that moment than seeing that dog come out of the pile of debris.
