Running the dryer while you’re not home, and even sleeping, can be extremely hazardous.

But if this sounds like an inconvenience, don’t just take our word for it.

We spoke to a drying expert and did our research.

Turns out, it’s not safe at all to leave your dryer running unattended.

In fact, there are more annual dryer fires than you may expect–almost 16,000to be exact.
