And what if you confuse your raw eggs with your boiled eggs?
To begin, how long you should boil eggs depends on how you like to enjoy them.

Place the egg on a flat surface and give it a quick spin, he explains.
A raw egg has fluid inside, so the spin will make the egg uneven and wobbly.
A boiled egg, however, is solid, so the spin will be smooth.

Do Boiled Eggs Float When Done?
A floating egg isn’t a sign of the egg’s doneness.
An egg can float in water when its air cell has enlarged sufficiently to keep it buoyant.
This means the egg is older, but it may be perfectly safe to use.
And that starts with boiling an egg properly.
To begin, Tiess says starting with cold water is important.
Next, bring the water to a boil, and start your timer when the water starts boiling.
Reduce the temperature to a simmeraround 180F, he says.
Shocking is to stop the cooking process and make the process of peeling easier, he explains.
Allow the eggs to cool for four to 10 minutes.
If you want a hard-boiled egg that is still warm, then remove at the four-minute mark.
If you want it fully chilled then (remove) around 10 minutes, Tiess says.
