All you need is a little routine maintenance and good scrub with easy-to-find (or make) cleaners.

What Are Hard Water Stains?

“Hard water is basically dissolved minerals in your water,” says master plumber, Nathan Hudelson.

The dissolved minerals found in hard water is typically a high concentration of calcium and magnesium.

So, now that you know what hard water is, how does it cause stains?

Using a Pumice Stone

Want a solution that doesn’t involve several ingredients?

Then you might benefit from using a pumice stone!

These stones are abrasive volcanic rocks that are extremely effective at scrubbing away tough stains.

The kicker is to confirm you don’t scrub too hard so it doesn’t damage the bowl.

Cleaners like Zep or CLR are the best to use.

Finally, you flush away the cleaner and see a sparkling clean toilet bowl.

“A good water softener should be able to solve most of these issues.”

All of these mistakes can lead to a damaged toilet bowl that doesn’t get rid of your stains.

It’s recommended that you clean your toilet at least once a week to prevent hard water stains.

Or, attempting to remove the stains as soon as they appear.
