Free plants, anyone?
They’re fluffy and vibrant, and for many, a symbol of nostalgia.
This downside comes with an easy solution: propagation.

Instead of purchasingnew shrubs, grow them with cuttings!
It only takes five simple steps.
Here’s how to propagate your hydrangeas.

This allows the rooted cutting a full growing season to develop before becomingdormant in the winter.
This is critical to remember, as the roots will form from the bottom nodes.
These two should be cut crosswise, which will help retain moisture and reduce stress on the cutting.
(While not technically necessary, it does improve your success rate and is recommended.)
check that the soil is continuously damp, and mist the cutting regularly to minimize dehydration and maximize humidity.
This can be tested by gently pulling on it.
Bend the exposed branch into the ground without cutting it from the main plant and bury it with soil.
Hydrangeas can live for 10 to 50 years with proper care.
