Of course, the wider the opening, the easier it is to work with.

The planting medium should be deep enough to accommodate your plants roots.

Add the remaining plants.

A chopstick or paintbrush can help you smooth soil into place.

Open containers planted with succulents can be covered by a layer of gravel.

Use a spray bottle and lightly mist the soil at the base of each plant.

If its a lidded container, wrap up the top.

Put your terrarium in bright indirect lightbut not direct sunlight, which will scorch the plants.

If you dont have sufficient natural light, a grow light also works.

A little condensation is normal (and desirable) in a closed container.

For open containers, youll probably onlyneed to waterevery week to 10 days.

Most open containers only need a tablespoon or two of water every couple of weeks.

Remove dying plant matter immediately.

Its not necessaryto fertilizebecause you want the plants to grow slowly, says Colletti.
