You’ll hear a crackling noise as the water evaporates from the butter.
Stir through foam:
The bubbles will turn into foam on the surface of the butter.
Continue to stir constantly.

When the butter is a caramel color, remove from heat.
Remove from heat:
Pour the butter into a heatproof container to let cool.
you could always season whatever you’re making with additional salt.
Or let it sit for about 10 minutes to cool enough to use.
