However, many wool coats and all leather and suede jackets should be professionally cleaned.

Usage and Environment

How often and where you wear a coat determines cleaning frequency.

Is the coat worn while camping or doing outside labor?

Are you amessy coffee drinkeror use public transportation?

How often is the coat worn in wet weather?

There is only one hard and fast rule about cleaning frequency because every situation is different.

A coat should be thoroughly cleaned at the end of the season before storing it for next year.

Cuffs, collars, and underarms are typically the first spots to become soiled.

Remove the coat while still slightly damp and allow it to air dry before wearing.

Suede or sheepskin jackets should only be brushed at home to remove loose dust and dirt.

Start with a clean cloth damped with plain water.

Work from the outside edge of the stain toward the center to prevent spreading.
