Butter bread:

Thinly spread one side of each piece of bread with butter.

Assemble sandwich:

Place one piece of bread in skillet, butter-side down.

Add one slice of Cheddar to the bread, then one slice of American cheese.

Top with the remaining piece of bread, butter side out.
