Designer Lisa Henderson Reimagines A 1950s Ranch Into A Happy Family Home

Adding another level gave her young family room to grow.

So when a 1954brick ranchin their dream neighborhood came on the market, they beelined for it.

We saw it on a Sunday afternoon when I was seven months pregnant, remembers Lisa.

Everyone else viewing the property was a builder.

There were a whole lot of cobblers children around here, she jokes, referencing the old adage.

It was January 2023, and wed been in the house for two to three years.

I was like, I cant say we just moved in anymore; Ive got to finish this!

Those have only just become a pair, notes Lisa.

The one I did have was the first piece of custom upholstery that I ever bought.

I wanted it to be comfortablenot too fancy or fussy but layered and youthful, says Lisa.

The house has a really good flow, and I didnt want this room to feel like the outlier.

You walk through it all day every day.

Thegalley-style spacemakes the most of its limited square footage, relying on the peninsula for storage and bar seating.
