This ice cream is made with just five ingredients, most of which are probably already in your pantry.

It’s creamy, rich, impressive, and makes a great pairing for a variety of desserts.

It’s also ready to freeze in just under 25 minutes of hands-on time.

For this recipe, cream cheese is the star of the show.

Storing Cream Cheese Ice Cream

There’s nothing like having homemade ice cream on hand.

Ingredients

3cupshalf-and-half

1 1/4cupspowdered sugar

2egg yolks

1(8-oz.)

Cook over medium heat, whisking constantly, 8 to 10 minutes or until mixture thickens slightly.

Remove from heat, and whisk in cream cheese and vanilla bean paste until cheese is melted.

Cool completely (about 1 hour), stirring occasionally.

Freeze ice cream:

Pour mixture into freezer container of a 1 1/2-qt.

electric ice-cream maker, and freeze according to manufacturer’s instructions.

Transfer ice cream to an airtight container.

Freeze 4 hours before serving.

Ice cream bases need to be fully chilled before processing for the creamiest results.

Aging an ice cream base overnight is also said to improve the flavor.

If you’re in a rush, chill the base completely over an ice bath before processing.
