This red-and-green congealed salad recipe from 1982 is still one of our all-time favorites.
Many holiday tables across the South aren’t complete without acolorful congealed salador two.
Despite its charming name, the recipe does not contain actual snow.

(Sorry, kids.)
It looks like a delightfullyretro Christmas tree ornament, especially if it is made in a fancy mold.
For a fun old-school look, plate the mold on lettuce leaves and top it with extra maraschino cherries.
Although, being adults, they may not express their excitement quite as strongly.
Ingredients
2envelopes unflavored gelatin
1/2cupcold water
1(15 1/4-oz.)
can crushed pineapple, undrained
1(1 1/4-oz.)
envelope whipped topping mix (such as Dream Whip)
1/3cupmayonnaise
1/4cupsifted powdered sugar
1(10-oz.)
jar red maraschino cherries, drained and chopped
1(6-oz.)
Drain pineapple, reserving juice; add enough water to juice to make 1 cup.
Bring pineapple juice mixture to a boil, remove from heat, and stir in softened gelatin.
Chill mixture until consistency of unbeaten egg white.
Unmold on serving tray; garnish with additional cherries, if desired.
