Ingredients
8oz.uncookedegg noodles
6Tbsp.
)unsalted butter, divided
1cupchopped yellow onion(from 1 [8-oz.]
Preheat oven to 350F with a rack in the upper third position.

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil over high.
Add noodles; cook according to package directions for al dente, 6 to 8 minutes.
While noodles cook, melt 4 tablespoons of the butter in a large saucepan over medium.

Add onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
Add garlic; cook, stirring often, until fragrant, about 1 minute.
Add flour and cook, stirring constantly, until golden brown and toasted, about 2 minutes.

Gradually add milk, stirring constantly, until sauce is smooth.
Spoon into a lightly greased 13- x 9-inch baking dish.
Stir in panko until well coated.

Sprinkle panko mixture evenly over noodle mixture in baking dish.
Bake in preheated oven until bubbly around edges and topping is lightly browned, 35 to 40 minutes.
Let cool slightly, about 10 minutes, before serving.
