Like any other pie that contains eggs and dairy, caramel pie should be refrigerated.

Dont leave it out for more than two hours, according toCDC guidelines.

After refrigerating, serve it cold or warmed slightly in the microwave.

Can You Freeze Caramel Pie?

This caramel pie is sure to beckon guests back for seconds, so dont count on leftovers.

But if you do have any pie left after the party, you could store it in the freezer.

It will last up to three months in the freezer.

Let it thaw in the refrigerator overnight before serving.

When youre ready to serve it, spread whipped topping evenly over the top, and serve cold.

If you like, serve caramel pie with an extra drizzle of caramel sauce or dulce de leche.

Roll piecrust:

Roll piecrust into a 12-inch circle on a lightly floured surface.

Blind bake the piecrust:

Bake on center rack in preheated oven 10 minutes.

Remove parchment paper and pie weights.

Set aside on a wire rack to cool completely, about 30 minutes.

Reduce oven temperature to 300F.

Add dulce de leche and vanilla; whisk to combine.

Vigorously whisk in flour until slightly thickened and smooth.

If clumps remain, strain mixture through a fine mesh strainer, and discard solids.

Remove foam:

Skim off and discard any foam.

Remove from oven, and carefully transfer to a wire rack to cool for 1 hour.

When ready to serve, spread whipped topping evenly over cooled pie.
