Scoop the ice chunks into a pedestrian-free area like your lawn.

Sweep away excess water with your broom without letting it collect in another area of your driveway.

Once the pavement is clear and fairly dry, apply ice melt or sand.

Regrade or fill in any low spots on the driveway so that snowmelt can drain away.

Remove snow promptly with a shovel or pay a service to do it for you.
