On the other, doors are ideal for privacy, blocking noise, and are the more traditional choice.

So, is this design move a lasting idea or merely a fad?

Hahnselle also suggests curtains in lieu of doors for those on a budget.
One of my favorite ways to incorporate fabric as a functional design element is within cabinetry.
