Should You Exfoliate Before Or After Shaving?

The Argument For Before

Interestingly, shaving is actually a form of exfoliation in and of itself.

But according to Allen, it’s best to exfoliate your skin before shaving.

(Replacing razor blades regularly also helps with this.)

However, you should wait a couple of days until your skin is less sensitive.

How Often Should You Exfoliate?

You should be continuously exfoliating, according to Dr. Allen.

However, you should choose a routine that works best for your skin.

When Should I Exfoliate During My Shower Routine?

Not getting into yourhair-washing routine, there is an order of operations for shaving days in the shower.

You should wash your body first, with your preferred methods and products, then exfoliate.

After rinsing your exfoliant off, you do not need to wait any amount of time to shave.

Use a gentle cleanser and exfoliant on the area, making sure to cover everywhere you wish to shave.

Let it sit for a couple of minutes before washing it off and shaving.

In general, yes, but that also depends on your skincare routine.

After exfoliating and/or shaving, remember to moisturize.

Allen recommends multiple products to help you exfoliate effectively.

One is the ZO Skin Health.
