If you attempt these methods and a clog still persists, call your nearest plumber to tackle the issue.

“Using hot water is one of the go-to methods for clearing clogs, but be careful with it.

Pouring hot water straight into a cold toilet bowl too quickly can crack the porcelain,” Russum says.

Then, flush the toilet to see if the water drains.

You may need to repeat this process several times until the clog is fully free.

Dish soap can bea helpful forcefor working drain and eating at the clog.

This method works the same as method one.

Start by pouring your dish soap into the toilet bowl before adding hot water.

Let the mixture sit for up to 30 minutes and then flush to push out the clog.

Repeat these steps as necessary.

Russum says this method is great for something solid that’s stuck in your drain.

Straighten out your wire hanger and then insert it down through the opening of the toilet bowl.

Work the hanger around by poking at the clog until you start to see your water start to drain.

Be careful when using this method as wire hangers can sometimes scratch the porcelain.

This method works as an impromptu plunger since you’re essentially forcing a plunge with water.

You should never use boiling water to help attempt to unclog a toilet.

These high temperatures can cause the porcelain to crack.
