A restaurant is going to be a favorite if you combine burgers and ice cream.
Thats the approach started in the original Cook Out in Greensboro, North Carolina, way back in 1989.
Cook Out has over 40 different flavors of shakes on the menu, including strawberry cheesecake and peach cobbler.

Those fluffy, buttery creations come out of the oven freshly baked about every 20 minutes.
It refers to the five sons of founders Jerry and Janie Murrell.
Opened in 1969, it quickly grew to 1,000 locations in the next few years.

By 1980, they were nationwide.
Additionally, there are delicious buttermilk biscuits and cane sugar sweetened tea on the menu also.
Now, the parent company of Popeyes owns that restaurant andChurchs Chicken, another Southern favorite.

By the 1990s, there were well over 3,000 locations across the country.
Hardees continues to grow, serving up charbroiled burgers, chicken, and more.
Today, there are 500-plus restaurants serving grilled options, fried classics and sandwiches.
