Cake

Baking spray with flour

2cupsgranulated sugar

1cup(8 oz.)

unsalted butter, softened

4large eggs

3cups(about 12 3/4 oz.)

all-purpose flour

1tablespoonbaking powder

1teaspoonkosher salt

1cupwhole milk

1teaspoonvanilla extract

Frosting

3 1/2cups(about 14 oz.)

powdered sugar

1/2cupunsweetened cocoa

3tablespoonswhole milk

1/2teaspoonkosher salt

Directions

Prepare the Cake: Preheat oven to 350F.

Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating until incorporated after each addition.

Stir together flour, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.

Pour batter evenly into prepared pans.

Bake in preheated oven until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean, 25 to 28 minutes.

Cool in pans 10 minutes.

Remove cake layers to wire racks, and let cool completely, about 30 minutes.

Place 1 cake layer on a plate; spread top with about 1 cup frosting.

Top with remaining cake layer.

Spread remaining frosting over top and sides of cake.

Store cake loosely covered in the refrigerator up to 2 days.
